Stephen Everson, originally from Toledo, OH, is a professional ballet dancer and teacher. As a teacher Stephen has worked on staff with numerous dance schools in and around Chicago, Fort Wayne, and Philadelphia over the past 7 years. With a Vaganova and Balanchine background, as well as familiarity with the Ceccheti style, Stephen brings a well rounded approach to classical ballet training.
Stephen discovered his love for dance at the age of twelve. His formal ballet training began years later at Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts and later continued at Project Ballet. While training, Stephen had the opportunity to attend the Royal Danish Summer School in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he studied under Fosse legends Ann Reinking and Dana Moore.
In 2018, Stephen joined Ballet 5:8’s professional company as a trainee where he toured and performing across the country. In 2019, he transitioned to working as a freelance artist, dancing roles such as Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, and the Cavalier in The Nutcracker. He also collaborated with Charleston Ballet Theatre as a guest artist.
In 2021, Stephen joined First State Ballet Theatre in Wilmington, Delaware. His repertoire includes, Dracula in Victor Plotkinov’s Dracula, Dr. Coppelius in Coppelia, Fantasy to Dvorak, classic ballets such as Giselle, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, as well as excerpts from Raymonda and La Bayadere. He has also performed in original works by choreographers Zachary Kapuluck, Blake Krapels, Maeghan McHale and many others.
Stephen was recently invited to perform as a guest artist at the Belfast International Ballet Festival in Northern Ireland.
Stephen is in his 4th season with First State Ballet Theatre, and is looking forward to sharing his love and appreciation of dance with all of his students.
